Golar LNG signs agreement for FLNG deployment in Argentina
|
Golar LNG Ltd. (“Golar”) has entered into definitive agreements with Pan American Energy (“PAE”) for a 20-year deployment of a Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (“FLNG”) vessel in Argentina. The FLNG project will monetize Argentine gas, tapping into the vast resources from the Vaca Muerta shale formation in the Neuquina Basin, the world's second-largest shale gas resources. The project is expected to start LNG exports within 2027, establishing Argentina as an LNG exporter. Read more…

Ara Ake has recently published the Raukawa Energy Innovation Project: Baseline Learnings and Insights report, which highlights the phase-one outcomes of an initiative led by Raukawa Charitable Trust, in collaboration with The Lever Room and the University of Otago, to address energy hardship in the South Waikato using data-driven strategies. Meridian's Harapaki wind farm fully operational
|
Harapaki Wind Farm is located north of Napier on SH5 in the Maungaharuru Range. Its 41 turbines can produce up to 126MW – enough to power roughly 70,000 homes, the equivalent of most of Hawke’s Bay.

Mercury begins construction on Kaiwera Downs wind farm expansion
|
Mercury has started construction on the second and final stage of the Kaiwera Downs wind farm near Gore. The entire 46-turbine wind farm will generate up to 198MW of renewable energy when stage two is completed in 2027. It will also stand as the largest wind farm in the South Island when constructed.

EECA's Energy End Use Database (EEUD)

EECA has published an update to its EEUD, which shows promising trends for New Zealand’s low emissions journey.
The EEUD tool provides annual estimates of how energy is used across the economy. The new dataset covers 2017 to 2022. The EEUD is ideal for government and industry – breaking down high-level data into specific applications, paving the way for smarter energy insights. It allows researchers, policy makers and members of the public to explore and identify energy insights from around New Zealand.
