YEPN - a call for mentors

Having sufficient mentors for our bi-monthly coffee catch-ups is undeniably vital for the success of this initiative. We currently have mentees but not enough mentors to match the demand, and we are calling on you or someone you know, both young or old with senior experience to participate as a mentor and meet bi-monthly with a randomly matched mentee. This provides an amazing opportunity for young professionals to connect with senior leaders. Sign up here...

Energy Leaders Series

with BEC and Z Energy

30 May 2024, Z Energy Wellington

Join us for our new Energy Leaders Series, 3 engaging and thought-provoking panel sessions with CEOs and key executives from across the energy sector, brought to you by BEC and Z Energy.

Panel 1 - Energy Trilemma: How Executives are ensuring energy security as New Zealand decarbonises

In this series, you will have the opportunity to meet with CEOs and key executives sharing insights, shaping the future, and shifting the paradigm of the New Zealand and global energy market. During three sessions, you will learn how leaders collaborate to address the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition. Don’t miss this chance to network with other peers from across the industry, and to join the conversation on how to create a sustainable, affordable, and secure energy system for New Zealand.

In our first episode, we will explore how energy security can be bolstered across the entire energy system, using strategies to improve resilience against domestic and international supply shocks, while minimising costs for consumers. As traditional fossil fuels decline and alternative fuels gain prominence, what are the primary risks associated with fuel importation, production, and utilisation in New Zealand?

Our speakers will delve into these challenges and identify opportunities for mitigation. Panellists will weigh the risks against potential gains, including quick wins and long-term improvements needed to balance fuel security.

Reducing Energy Hardship Conference:

Building equity into our communities

20-21 May 2024 - Wharewaka Function Centre

Ara Ake, Community Energy Network and WISE Charitable Trust are excited to announce the 2024 Reducing Energy Hardship Conference. This event continues on from the successful 2023 Reducing Energy Hardship Conference, where 40 presenters discussed the state of energy hardship in Aotearoa New Zealand, both public and private initiatives, community energy concepts, and key innovations addressing critical problems hindering community energy implementation. Speakers highlighted key steps to address energy hardship, emphasising the shift from reactive to proactive solutions. The focus is on tackling root causes and promoting energy justice to mitigate, not just medicate, the issue.

CEP Conference 2024

28 & 29 May - Christchurch Town Hall

The window is narrowing and the need to step up in reducing climate change has never been more severe or urgent. Whether referencing staying calm or holding on to the 1.5oC, we’ll be keeping cool.

Of course, the coolest place to be at the end of May 2024 will be the Christchurch Town Hall. That’s when the experts, influencers and decision makers that will commission, design and deliver the projects that will take us to our 2030 and 2050 targets will be gathering in one place at the same time. It’s the best opportunity of the year to come together, exchange ideas and learn from each other, all in a relaxed and cool environment. Again for 2024, CEP are partnering with the Bioenergy Association so alternative, clean fuels are very firmly on the agenda again in 2024.
