After 9 years we have some big changes coming up at BEC. Debbie Bougen is departing and taking up a new role closer to her home in the Bay of Islands. Debbie has been a cornerstone of our team and her positivity and willingness to go above and beyond has made her truly irreplaceable. We wish Debbie all the best in her next chapter. Mid-August we will also say farewell to Tina as she heads off on parental leave for a year. We wish Tina all the best for the upcoming arrival. Rest assured we will be leaving BEC in good hands with new team details being announced soon.

YEPN - welcomes and farewells | After a decade of fostering connection and careers within the energy sector, the Young Energy Professionals Network (YEPN) welcomes two new co-Chairs, Beca’s Industrial Energy Lead Andrew Wallace and Aurecon’s Lead Energy Consultant Danielle Manners. In a joint statement, outgoing co-Chairs Esther Evening and Elliott Powell say the network has grown significantly over their three years at the helm. Germany's big green budget | Germany is debating a new budget with its largest green spending plan, including upgrades to power grids, geothermal energy, and climate-friendly transport. But in the 3,000+ pages, €3.4 billion from the €100 billion climate fund is set aside for natural gas storage. The government says it’s needed to cut energy costs and support consumers and industry after losing cheap Russian gas. Mercury signs long-term PPA with Visy | Mercury has reached a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Visy, a global leader in packaging, recycling and logistics. The agreement spans 10 and 20-year terms and will see Visy purchase approximately 115 GWh p.a. of electricity for the first ten years before tapering down to about half of this amount in the last ten years.
