Solar project showcases hydrogen transport

Hiringa is putting low-emission transport into practice, having partnered with Booth Logistics and TR Group to deliver solar panels to its solar farm. The three-week project, completed using hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks, prevented nearly 10 tonnes of CO2 at less than 0.1% extra cost to the project. Read more here.

Meridian Energy supports Kiwi winery’s sustainability journey

Meridian Energy has supported Grove Mill Winery’s sustainability journey since 2025, providing a fully funded solar system that offsets approximately 20% of the site’s total consumption. Outgoing Tower Chairman Michael Stiassny on extreme weather events

Outgoing Tower Chairman Michael Stiassny has raised concerns about NZ’s climate preparedness, highlighting recent extreme weather events. He said national action has been “haphazard, inadequate and painfully slow”, and that climate change is now a financial issue. Read more here.

Genesis: Big delivery for Huntly Power Station battery

Genesis Energy has taken a big step towards its Gen35 strategy following the delivery of a key 172-tonne transformer for the new grid-scale battery at Huntly Power Station. The battery will help keep energy supply reliable as NZ moves towards renewable, weather-driven electricity generation. Read more here.

   

WM New Zealand latest renewable energy milestone

WM New Zealand is celebrating a major renewable energy milestone, having now generated more than 2.5 million MWh of electricity from landfill gas across its sites.
