Upskill on human rights in the supply chain

SBC, in partnership with Deloitte and Walk Free is co-hosting The Collaborative Advantage, a peer-to-peer network. The programme’s 2025 focus is human rights in the supply chain, with the first online hui on Thursday, 6 March. The session will explore the implications of Aotearoa New Zealand’s renewed modern slavery legislative efforts for businesses and the investment drivers for human rights due diligence.

Carbon capture framework in focus for government

The Government has announced key decisions on a Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) framework to enable businesses to benefit from storing carbon underground, delving into high-level regulatory framework and next steps. Detailed design decisions will be made early this year, followed by the introduction of legislation in 2025.

   

Contract supports electrification

Mercury has agreed a long-term contract with Fonterra to support the electrification of their Edgecumbe and Waitoa operations. Mercury’s supply agreements extend for ten years for each site. "Having a guaranteed buyer for a significant portion of our portfolio – about the size of a large wind farm – gives us the confidence to continue investing and building more renewables, a key focus for us," said Mercury’s Executive GM Wholesale Markets, Tim Thompson.
