It was a pleasure to bring together the membership last night for our Annual Council Meeting, where we launched our Snapshot Report for 2023-24, shared kai and kōrero with our members, and came away feeling inspired and energised. Welcome to new Advisory Board member Amelia Linzey, mā te wā and thank you to outgoing Chair Gareth Marriott and members Angela Busby, Amanda Whiting, Neeraj Lala and Kirk Hope, and thank you to Claire Walker for stepping in as acting Chair. We look forward to connecting in-person at our 25th Anniversary celebration in Wellington in October!

Celebrating the SLP 2024 graduates

Huge congratulations to those who graduated earlier this week from the 2024 Sustainability Leadership Programme, a course that we've run in partnership with Catapult since 2017 to help grow sustainability leaders and capability in Aotearoa New Zealand. Stay tuned to learn more about some exciting updates to the course for 2025 and register for next year's course.

   

IAG releases climate change survey results 2024

IAG's 2024 Climate Change Poll reveals 65% of Kiwis want more resource put into reducing climate change impacts, reflecting "the need for practical steps which will lead to a real reduction in the natural hazard risk faced by some of New Zealand’s most exposed communities, so that we can keep them safe as the impacts of climate change grow." 

   

AgriZeroNZ testing new methane-blocking extract from daffodils

AgriZeroNZ is investing up to $4m to trial the use of a naturally occurring compound from daffodils to reduce methane production in cattle. “We’re scanning the world for cutting-edge tools that could work on New Zealand farms and we’re excited to leverage the knowledge and expertise of Agroceutical Products for the benefit of Kiwi farmers.”

EECA opens funding round from Low Emissions Transport Fund

LET: Vehicles, Technology, Off-road & Marine (Round 14) supports investment in innovative technologies to encourage reducing emissions across a range of sectors in New Zealand. The funding is open to all New Zealand organisations with appropriate project proposals. Investment will be a maximum 50% of project costs, up to a maximum of $500,000.     thinkstep-anz and Aurecon partner with MBIE/SBN on circularity report

    A new paper for the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), written by thinkstep-anz in collaboration with Aurecon and the Sustainable Business Network, shows that circular economy models can reduce supply risks and global emissions, create skilled jobs, and make businesses more resilient.       Workshop - Communicate your sustainability journey with confidence through the GRI Standards

      Grant Thornton House, 152 Fanshawe St Auckland | 26-27 August, 8:30am-3:30pm

      With greenwashing and greenhushing on the rise, it's becoming increasingly tricky to confidently and clearly communicate your organisation's sustainability targets and achievements. This engaging and interactive workshop run by Proxima (a Certified GRI Standards training provider) holistically weaves together the principles of the world's most widely used sustainability reporting framework with concepts of value creation, communication, strategy, reporting and practical application. Whether or not you're involved in sustainability reporting, this workshop will provide you the skills and confidence to effectively communicate your organisation's sustainability journey. Participants will also receive a GRI certification on completion.
